IAE: So tell us where you’re from and when did you decide that you wanted to sing?
JJ: I am from the Gold Coast of Australia, Queensland actually, and I first began singing in 2005. Our
school was holding a talent quest (show) and I really wanted to be in it. So I came home and asked my mum for
a gold coin because you had to hand it in to audition. I had no idea what I was going to do. In the end, I
decided to sing a song called ‘Robot Man’. I made it through to the finals and ended up coming in second.
Ever since then I have kept on singing. In 2006 I opened my first YouTube channel and started uploading
videos for my family in New Zealand to watch. It just kept going from there.
IAE: What would you say your musical style is?
JJ: Pop, I really like a lot of the big mid tempo style songs. I definitely don’t see myself as a rap artist, I’ve
tried it and its hard! I enjoy all of Bruno Mars’ music, Micheal Jackson and many more artists.
IAE: You recently signed a record deal. Can you please tell us how that came about? (If you can
disclose the label name please include the name)
JJ: I arrived home from a recent trip to LA to find an email from my attorney telling me that someone
wanted to offer me a deal. When I found out who it was I couldn’t believe it. Toby Gad is an amazing songwriter
and I knew he was famous for writing Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy”, Fergies “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, and most
recently, Demi Lovato’s “Skycraper”. He’s done so many amazing hit songs. My sister knew who he was
because he had written with Miley Cyrus. So after a couple of weeks of talks & meetings going back and forth, I
finally signed a deal with Toby Gad/Kite Records and a management deal with David Sonenberg/Das
Communications, who also manages Black Eyed Peas and many other famous artists.
IAE: What can your fans expect from your new album? Are there any producers or singers you
would like to work with?
JJ: It’s sort of hush, hush, but they can expect songs that’ll speak to them, and make them feel better
when they listen. Or that’s my hope anyway. I would really like to work with Bruno Mars because he is an
amazing artist.
IAE: What are your plans over the next 6 months to a year?
JJ: At the moment we are going to keep working on my album, continue recording songs and hopefully
release a single prior to the album. I’m so excited for everyone to hear my new songs.
IAE: What advice can you give to those who are trying to make it in music and entertainment?
JJ: You just have to keep on going for your dream and never give in or else you won’t make it. Also, don’t
listen to any of the negative comments and only take to heart all of the good things, because people will
always try to pull you down.
JORDAN JANSEN ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS - FAN QUESTIONS
Shanyn Cookson: Who/what inspired you to start singing?
JJ: You know, I think all singing comes from the same place. My family and friends have all been very
supportive, but I think most songs come from an emotion. Sometimes you have something you’re feeling and
the only way to get it out is with a song. It was probably a girl, but you didn’t hear that from me.
@JefanilovesGC: What achievements do you want from your music career?
JJ: My goal is to make as many people happy as possible. That is what I have been attempting to do and
everyday I am getting closer and closer to reaching that goal.
@codytruchsess: What was your favorite song to sing when you were a little kid?
JJ: ‘The Wheels On The Bus’ and ‘The Barney Song’
@TashaKaratzas: How old were you when you began learning the guitar?
JJ: 11, I haven’t been learning for that long so I’m still learning new chords everyday.
@Giskanandita: What’s your favorite song?
JJ: That’s like asking a parent to pick their favorite kid!? There are so many amazing ones, I don’t even
know where to begin.
@Lauralynn198: Who is your music inspiration?
JJ: You know, this is going to sound weird, but I really like watching videos on YouTube. There’s a million
videos of kids just singing, not because they want to be famous, not because it’s on stage, but just because it’s
fun, and they love it. So, other kids like me that are just singing because it’s fun, inspire me to sing more.
@FutureAmyBieber: When you were younger did you ever imagine becoming a singer or did
you want to be something else?
JJ: I started singing and performing on stage from a really young age so I don’t actually remember
wanting to do or be anything else.
@malenaaabieber: What is your inspiration to sing and what keeps you going every day?
JJ: My family, friends and Fans are what keep me going everyday. It is an amazing to know that I have so
much support.
Elisha Hodges: What is your favorite part about performing?
JJ: Oh gosh I don’t know. There’s something about doing what you love, and looking around and realizing
that it makes other people happy to watch you do it. Is there anything better than that?
