Rowan Blanchard is on her way to the top of Hollywood and here, she spoke to I Am Entertainment
Kids & Teens about her starring role in Spy Kids 4D.

IAE:         Where are you from and what inspired you to pursue a career in entertainment?
RB:
I’m from LA and I started acting at the age of 6, doing commercials. My dad is a stage director and at
first he really didn’t want me to get into the business. When we would have company over I would put on shows
and pretend to be Cinderella. I loved performing. So that’s how I got started.

IAE:         What was your first paid acting gig and how did you get that job?
RB:
My first paid acting gig was a commercial for Apple (Mac). They asked me to learn how to ride a bike
in 2 days. It was pretty cool.

IAE:         So you’re one of the lead actors on the new “SPY KIDS: All The Time In The World” movie
in 4D. Tell us a little about how you booked that role?
RB:
At the time, I had only done commercials and a couple of guest starring roles. My agent kept telling
them that they had to see me and I ended up getting the audition. I received a personal call from Robert
Rodriguez and he told me I got the role. That was pretty exciting.

IAE:         Congrats! What did you do to celebrate the great news?
RB:
Thank you! My whole family came over to my house and they were all so happy for me. We had so
much fun!

IAE:         Tell us about your role in SPY KIDS?
RB:
My character’s name is ‘Rebecca Wilson’ and she’s 10-years-old. She’s very competitive and likes to
get her way. She’s very smart and witty, but at the same time she can be a little foolish.

IAE:         Are there any similarities between you and Rebecca?
RB:
Absolutely. [laughs] The character is basically me because she’s very smart and she’s also very
bossy with her sibling. We’re both very sweet and thoughtful too though.

IAE:         You’re also a lead on the upcoming FOX series, LITTLE IN COMMON, which stars Rob
Corddry, Gabrielle Union and Kevin Hart. Tell us a little bit about your role and what can we expect
from the show?
RB:
LITTLE IN COMMON is about three families that have to learn to like their neighbors, and learn to like
each other through baseball. My character is Raquel Pacheco and she’s a fashionista. She’s a very sassy little
girl and her older sister is the only girl on an all boys baseball team. She’s the complete opposite of her sister
and she’s definitely a girly girl. The show should be picked up by mid-season.

IAE:         Not only are you an actress but you’re also a singer. Are you currently working on an
album and what is your musical style?
RB:
I love pop with an edge of rock and a little bit of show tunes. It will be a mix of everything. There are a
couple of labels that I’m going to be meeting with in the coming weeks.

IAE:         Who inspires you and who would you love to work with?
RB:
I love Elle Fanning and Emma Watson. I would love to work on a job with them because I think they
are both amazing actresses. Music wise, I love Barbra Streisand and I think she has an incredible voice. I also
love Adele and would love to work with her because she has a gorgeous voice.

IAE:         What words of wisdom can you give to fellow actors and actresses out there who are
working hard, training, and going out on auditions but not booking anything?
RB:
A lot of people are going to tell you, “No,” or that you’re not good enough. Even if they do tell you
that, there is always some job that’s looking for exactly who you are. I’m speaking from experience because I’ve
had plenty of people tell me no or that I don’t look the part. It all depends on what they are looking for and you
may not fit that exactly. But just know that there is always a job out there looking for you.

IAE:         Any advice for them on how to get an agent?
RB:
It is difficult to land a great agent. You have to go with someone who knows the business but also
takes you seriously. One of the most important things is to know that your agent is working on your behalf and
is able to focus on you, even if they have a bunch of other clients. Having an agent that focuses on you and
your needs is important.

IAE:         Just for fun…what’s your favorite color?
RB:
My favorite color has to be blue.

IAE:         Favorite type of food?
RB:
My favorite type of food is pasta and sushi! I love, love, love sushi!

IAE:         What’s your biggest pet peeve?
RB:
This is a toughy. I don’t like when people brag a lot, because to me it’s kind of rude.

IAE:         What are your favorite television shows?
RB:
I love GLEE. My mom always screens the episodes before I watch it to make sure that it’s age
appropriate for me, but I love that show when I can watch it. I also like Disney’s, WIZARDS OF WAVERLY
PLACE.
