Footprints is a story that focuses on a woman, aka 'Our Gal' (Sybil Temtchine) who wakes up with amnesia lying face down in
front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
As Our Gal embarks on a journey to figure out who she is, she encounters a number of people, including a homeless man
who rants about the hand and footprints of black celebs not being given premiere placement on the movie palace's front
walkway, a few Hollywood tour guides in a van, an old man (H.M. Wynant) who appears to be a ghost, a costumed Catwoman
who convinces Our Gal to dress as Wonder Woman and pose as a trio with Supergirl for tourist photos, a Scientologist who
tries to talk her into joining his church, and a veteran actress (Pippa Scott) who tries to help Our Gal find herself.
"Hollywood's like a black hole sometimes..." says the old man/ghost, addressing the feeling that many people experience after
migrating to Tinsel Town from the four corners of the world to pursue their dreams of stardom, only to find out that they've
been sucked into a vacuum of seemingly unattainable celebrity.
One message in the film that seems to continue throughout is the fact that in Hollywood, "if you didn't get in, you never
existed," a fact that pumps fear into the hearts of many aspiring actors who have always dreamed of becoming famous.
Footprints' overall message could be summed up by the fact that people often go to Hollywood and lose their way. It's like
they wake up one day and no longer recognize who they are.
The film may not make much sense to those who don't have a deep seated passion for working in the entertainment industry.
As someone who has spent plenty of time in Tinsel Town staring at the names, stars and hand/footprints of celebrities, both
dead and alive, I know the allure of the bright lights and fantasies that abound in the hearts of many who dream of making it
someday in La-La-Land.
Some of the creative minds behind Footprints are STEVEN PEROS and JOHN PEROS (Producers), SAAD AL-ENEZI (Exec
Producer), ADAM TEICHMAN (Director of Photography), and music by CHRISTOPHER CALIENDO.
