Without A Father is a story that focuses on two boys, Joshua Taylor (Pieter Sypesteyn) and Christopher Bauman (Jacob
O'Neal), from totally different backgrounds who end up living together after Joshua moves in with the Bauman family due to
the passing of  his parents.

Raised in the same single parent home, the men grow up on opposite sides of the law, Joshua a felon and Christopher an
attorney. Christopher, however, is a corrupt attorney who bilks his clients out of money while Joshua, recently released from
jail, tries to turn his life around and stay out of trouble.  After Christopher is shut down by the Texas Bar Association for his
shady business practices, he and Joshua have a heated exchange that tears the two apart.

Joshua then accepts Christ into his life and reunites with his son and the boy's mother and the three relocate to another state
while Christopher's life spirals out of control.  Without giving away the entire story, Christopher finds himself on the verge of a
divorce and in need of a kidney transplant, making for a great redemptive and heartfelt ending to the film.

The overall message in Without A Father is that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and you shouldn't count someone out
just because they've had a few rough moments in life. Everyone deserves a second chance in life and no matter how rough
around the edges a person is, we can always turn our lives around when we turn it over to Christ.

I always hear about the poor quality of Christian
movies / Faith-based films, but I believe that to be a broad sweeping and
unfair judgement of an entire side of the film industry.  I'd rather judge films based on my own viewing than to base my
opinions on what others say.

My opinion of this particular film is that while it has a great message, because it's a low-budget film ($80K), the acting is not all
that great and somewhat distracting. I've never understood filmmakers who put together a film budget and have no money for
their actors...I've seen this far too many times.  You can take an incredible cast of talent and a newby director and a mediocre
script, and because those actors are so talented the film turns out far greater than the budget suggested it should have.

My advice to the makers of this movie is, on your next film be sure to hire an experienced casting director who can help you
find at least 2 great actors, then pay the actors what they're worth. I've seen films with $50K budgets that were shorter and
easier to watch than this particular movie. Great actors, cinematography, editing and a decent marketing budget could help
your film turn a profit if you market it right.
