This is Born In Winter (BIW), a cold blooded, metal thrashing good time. This co-ed
Colorado band of rockers are some of the most skilled musicians I've heard from an indie
band in recent times. I can't believe these guys aren't signed to a major label deal.
"Wasted Life" is flat out awesomeness wrapped in a twisted metal box. The music on this
track is freaking incredible and the some of the breaks in the song are very creative. I
especially enjoyed the way the guitars thrash all over the place and then mellow out
toward the bridge section. The drummer...WOW! The female lead vocal was a thing of
beauty because BIW took this angelic like singer and then completely ravished the space
behind her with grit and grime. Its like Michelangelo's painting "The Torment of Saint
Anthony" in music form. Seriously, take a listen to this song, it's musical art in its rarest
form.
In addition to Wasted Life, I also enjoyed "Like You" and "October" by BIW. Each of these
tracks oozes with so much metal guitar riffing, drumming, bass pumping and vocal
performances that you'll surely hear something you like.
Overall, Born In Winter's compilation of songs give the band a major edge on other
bands who have 1 good song on an EP of 5 tracks. I'd recommend checking these guys
and gals out because they really do have something to offer metal/rock fans everywhere.
MUSICAL GOAL: "Our ultimate goal would be world domination! But we would settle for
making a living off of our music." - Born In Winter
