Key Track(s): Your Love Never Shows
The Mark Sexton Band (TMSB) is another great classic blue-eyed soul band whose
sound is 100% live and 100% rhythm and blues in its rawest form. On their latest EP,
LISTEN OUT, the Reno based soul band offers a brand of funky soul music that helps to
fill a major void in the R&B/Soul genre.
"Your Love Never Shows" is one of my favorites by TMSB. This song bears the soul of a
man who is in touch with his heart, and on the song Mark shares how he feels about not
being able to see the love his lady says she has for him. This is a well written song that
embodies great musicianship, songwriting and overall production. Mark's vocal
performance is pretty good too, which only makes the music and lyrical content that much
more enjoyable. This song is very good and I enjoyed listening to it.
Other great songs on TMSB's LISTEN OUT project include: "Don't Tell", "Kaden", and
"Used To Do". Each track fuses funk, soul and jazz helping to create a very nice EP that
I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys the music of artists like Robin Thicke, Jon B and
Musiq Soulchild.
MUSICAL GOAL: "The ultimate goal with our music is to make waves. We want to make
waves in many different ways; like conjuring up a multitude of different emotions within
the listeners body and mind. We want to express our passionate feelings with music with
everyone who puts on our records. We are constantly growing as musicians and
songwriters and write from a place of honesty and soulfulness. We love the the world of
music and our goal is to share it with everyone." - Mark Sexton Band
