Location: Oceanside, California
Genre: Alternative Rock/Ska
Key Tracks: Just A Girl
The FABulous Rudies have filled my eardrums with the sweet nectar of alternative rock
music on the band's latest EP, JUST A GIRL. The six piece band is fronted by a female
lead vocal, that is full of energy and youth, making the Oceanside band a force to be
reckoned with among today's ska bands.
Take, for instance, the EP's title track, "Just A Girl" which is a perfect example of why I
said The FABulous Rudies are a force to be reckoned with. The musicianship displayed
on this song makes it clear that this band has no intentions of leaving the stage anytime
soon. The lead vocalist sings the song with a great deal of excitement and energy,
reminding me of a younger version of Lacey Sturm of the band Flyleaf.
In addition to Just A Girl, songs like "Tears of a Clown" and "Help Me" combine to solidify
the Rudies as a credible band of rockers with a great new project. I like the fact that
these guys are working toward building a legacy by combining the youthful voice of Kaily
Voris with five seasoned musicians on a mission.
Overall, The FABulous Rudies are a great band that anybody who likes alternative rock
and ska music could easily take a liking to. You should check this band out, I'm sure
you'll find their Just A Girl EP is well worth buying.
MUSICAL GOAL: "To break my band, The FABulous Rudies, and to insure a long career
in the entertainment industry for my daughter, Kailyn (lead singer)." - The FABulous
Rudies
