The Bitteroots are back with another groove-splitting rock release titled AFTER THE
RAIN. The female fronted Georgia band takes us for a journey through their unique
brand of soulful rock tunes that is the music equivalent of that tangy but sweet Georgia
After the Rain is The Bitteroots' third release, and again they deliver a project full of
powerful vocals from, Laura Dees, who was born to sing the rock and roll blues.
Emotionally delivering every single song, Laura's voice gives the band a great texture to
carry its melody driven productions.
One of my favorite songs on this project is "Nothing In Return" because of the vintage
rock sound that busts through the gray and hits you square in the chest. If you can't feel
Laura's sincerity and pain in the vocal delivery, you should probably get your ears
checked. She draws you in and keeps you there with her, giving each not she belts its
own special vibration. I also dug the guitar and bass rhythms. In some spots, I could tell
that the timing between the drums and bass weren't quite together, but it still doesn't take
too much away from the fact that this is a great song.
If I'm being honest, I did like The Bitteroots sophomore release - Central of Georgia - a
bit more than this one; mostly because I could relate to the songs on that release more.
But overall, I'd say this is a decent third release for The Bitteroots. If you're in Atlanta,
make sure you make your way out to the band's album release party at Eddies Attick on
